En av dessa oändligt många västernhjältinnor i film, the Broncho Girl, med Broncho Bill Anderson som motspelare. Dotter till irländsk/walesiska föräldrar. Hon växte upp i enkla förhållande, pappan var gruvingenjör. Utbildades i ett kloster och sjöng i tabernaklet. Hon säger att hon bara helt plötsligt började vid filmen och gjorde 179 filmer på 15 år.
